Kate Steensma

Vinyasa, RYT-200

Kate is a homegrown Whatcom County yogi, with a passion for movement and conscious connection with land and community. She finds yoga as a valuable framework for moving through and experiencing the world, cultivating compassion for self and others. Kate’s dynamic sequences are characterized by their balance between energetic effort and ease. She invites students to customize the practice to their own bodies, encouraging personal discipline and creative self-expression.

Kate humbly strives to honor the roots of the yoga tradition, with classes built on a foundation of functional anatomy, yoga philosophy, and subtle body awareness. In 2015, she completed her 200-hour teacher training with an emphasis in Vinyasa yoga. Kate is a lifelong student of yoga, grounded in her practice, and ever-growing in her study of the yoga tradition. She has continued her study through additional training in Restorative yoga, energetic anatomy, and asana sequencing & alignment. She is deeply grateful for her teachers, past and present.

In addition to teaching yoga, Kate is an animal biologist and fourth-generation farmer. Her class themes often draw inspiration from the seasons and rhythms of nature.
